My inspiration comes from being outside in nature, walking through cities, noticing and collecting objects capturing the moments of life as well as their emotions. Welcome to Mixed Media Art
All my life I have been fascinated by textiles and the inspirations they give. Experimenting with different techniques and materials, I love to explore the possibilities to create new experiences. I am an embroiderer, mixed media artist and collector of stories.
I have a background in textiles and teaching.
Living in the United Kingdom for 10 years gave me the opportunity to immerse into modern machine embroidery as well as hand-stitching and get familiar with the very active textile art movement.
I am attracted by any kind of fabric or paper, old, new, used, with holes or tears. I am a great collector of "stuff". Imperfections stipulate the creativity in me. I like to incorporate all kinds of objects that can be found on the streets, the woods or the beach. Even the smallest scraps have the opportunity to become “stars”.
I mainly use discarded and previously used, washed and worn materials.
Often my work tells little stories and I draw my inspiration from everyday scenes and events, architecture and nature. Sometimes even single emotions or words trigger new ideas. I love to translate those ideas into stitched textile and mixed media pieces.
